The father of Impressionism - Claude Monet

Claude Monet is considered the pioneer of the Impressionist art movement. The painting ‘Water Lilies’ in particular helped the painter to achieve great fame. Claude Oscar Monet was born in Paris on 14 November 1840. The highly talented painter grew up on the north-west coast of France in Le Havre. Even at school, his caricatures were the talk of the town. Through his acquaintance with the canvas dealer Eugène Boudin, his interest in painting in nature was awakened. At the tender age of 19, Monet went to Paris to study at the Académie Suisse. Two years later, in 1861, the caricaturist and landscape painter was drafted into military service for seven years. However, he was forced to leave his military service just a few months later for health reasons. He fell ill with typhoid fever. Shortly afterwards, he returned to Le Havre. Claude Monet returned to his artistic career. With success - his first works were exhibited in Paris as early as 1874. The work ‘Impression - Sunrise’ is regarded as the birth of a new art movement, namely Impressionism. It was initially derided by critics who thought the style looked unfinished. However, contrary to expectations, the actual mocking name Impressionism has taken a very significant path.

Claude Monet paintings are a symbol of the Impressionist style

Initially, the financial situation was more than modest. Monet could not really make a living from the sale of his paintings. Several years had to pass before the painter was able to make a financial profit. The first official solo exhibition of his works in London followed in 1883. Today, this would be considered a major breakthrough. Monet used this money to buy a house in Giverny near Paris. The associated flower garden served as inspiration. Many of his paintings were created in his garden at home. Even when travelling, the painter captured a lot of worthwhile motifs. The last years of Monet's life were characterised by illness. He suffered from cancer and rheumatism. Several operations on his eyes were also unavoidable. Nevertheless, he continued to paint until his death. Claude Monet died on 6 December at the age of 86. He left behind unique works that are still held in such high esteem today due to their atmospheric depictions. He was a master at observing and capturing light effects. In his time, he was far ahead of other painters. Even a tendency towards modernism cannot be denied in his paintings.

Claude Monet paintings are always something very special. They show impressions of life, which are snapshots and random image details. For the moment, the brushstrokes appear rough and choppy. If you look at some Monet paintings from a distance, you get the feeling that the strokes are intentionally or unintentionally blurred. Well done - this in turn makes shapes or objects visible in an astonishing way. The Impressionist could not do without colourful nuances. Painting outdoors was always a priority for the artist. It was precisely in specially selected locations that Monet was able to perfectly reproduce the prevailing shadow and light effects. In contrast, the rigid lighting of the studio tended to limit his artistic diversity.

Monet canvas paintings impress with great taste

Monet murals present themselves with an enormous luminosity. The canvas painting "Dutch Landscape with Windmills" perfectly captures the area around Zaandam. The wings of the windmills turn leisurely in the wind. The landscape is complemented by small houses, meadows and a large moat. This idyllic scene is perfect for your living room or dining room. The high-quality art print on canvas fabric is available in different sizes. The material is stretched on a stretcher frame that can be easily hung on the wall.
The oil painting "Poppy Field near Argenteuil" was created in 1873. This wonderfully summery picture depicts a leisurely stroll through the fields. Monet Poppy Field impresses with the highest possible quality and excellent colour reproduction. This impressive eye-catcher is suitable as an appealing decoration for public facilities such as law firms, offices and studios. The Monet Poppy Field art print is also a source of admiration within your own four walls.
Monet water lilies from 1918 are of course a must. This creation, mainly in blue, green and purple, is a classic par excellence. This tasteful addition looks wonderful in living rooms and bedrooms, for example. The motif also cuts a fabulous figure as a wall decoration in the fireplace room, lounge area or corridor.
Intense colours and flowing transitions are an integral part of the Monet "Sunflowers" canvas painting. The radiant yellow colour perfectly represents the connection to summer. Every room automatically feels warmer and more cosy. The floral splendour bathed in appealing yellow acts as a radiant eye-catcher. Whether above the sofa, the sideboard or the buffet - this more than successful specimen is always an extravagant eye-catcher.
Posters such as Monceau Park are an attractive alternative. Even with this variant, viewers actually have to look several times to see whether it is an oil painting after all. The French artist has effectively captured part of the landscape of Monceau Park in this scene. The poster print perfectly emphasises this beautiful spot. Spectacular trees, surrounded by lush meadows, and in the background a suggestive Renaissance-style house. This fascinating poster can be ordered with or without hanging.
