Mosaic is the art of creating pictures and patterns by using small
parts of different materials like stones, broken glass or broken
tiles. It started in Mesopotamia a long time ago and became
especially popular in ancient Greece and ancient Rome, but can now be
found in many places like Syria, Jerusalem or Macedonia. We also see
them in churches where we can only begin to imagine how much time,
patience and determination it took people to create them. Although it
is a dying art, there are still plenty of artists who are looking
after these old masterpieces by cleaning and restore them.
